ABSTRACT

Previously, the literature has avoided, misnamed, or failed to understand random families. There were some references to "chaotic" families, but they were described as if they were failed versions of the closed type. The preferred treatment, therefore, was to empower the executive team and "reestablish" a workable hierarchy of power, etc. There was no notion that random families might have a functional version or even that they represented a distinct type with their own dynamics.
