ABSTRACT

8n a special edition on the uses of humor in the Journal of Strategic and Systematic Therapies, Furman and Ahola (1988) write that "humor is not to be used to put people down but to help generate new points of view in order to be able to solve their problems more efficiently" (p. 5). I have experienced humor not only as a way of challenging and expanding a client's position on a problem but also as a means of tapping my own creativity and engaging abilities into the problem-solving process.
