ABSTRACT

Most so-called "live supervision" of clinical work involves a supervisor behind a one-way mirror directing the conversation of a trainee working with a client system. This supervision situation is often an enactment of a mind/body duality: the supervisor is similar to an engineer working behind a leaded mirror with his or her arms in robotic limbs to handle the radioisotopes in the laboratory. Whatever the particular supervisory structure, the goal is the same: direct the therapist-trainee to have the appropriate conduct.
