ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. Some families who come to therapists for help are already heavily involved with a variety of social services, and perhaps also with legal and/or criminal justice systems, e.g., divorcing couples with custody disputes, incest families, or families in which some members have been court-ordered for treatment. This article describes a clinical intervention process based upon an ecosystemic perspective, utilizing the Circumplex Model with a consultation team to counterbalance those aspects of the multi-helping situation which sometimes hamper family improvement. Thus therapeutic change in the family is facilitated by creating an overall balance in the larger social services ecosystem.
