ABSTRACT
The germinal stage: From conception to 10 days. The first two weeks after conception is primarily a period in which the fertilised egg (ovum) undergoes repeated division into identical copies. This stage ends when the fertilised ovum becomes implanted in the uterus. From then on, the cells begin to differentiate and take on specialised functions with the formation of the basic structures of the living organism.
