ABSTRACT
I have never talked much to friends about the plans for my book. Intellectuals in China are always cautious about writing a book, still more about writing an autobiography. Besides VIP’s, it is unthinkable that a plain citizen could write a book about himself. The Chinese Constitution does say something about a citizen’s right to free speech and publishing. But, one hears of very few, if any, who dare to do the unusual.
