ABSTRACT
The legacy of Dr. Chen Renbing and his contemporaries goes on through the personal influence these individuals passed on to neighbors and friends. Although the overall disposition of Chen's generation of United States (US) returned students was tragic for them as individuals, it can be said that overall the indirect influence is positive and may have paved the way for China's future leaders. China needs to prove to the foreign investor that it should not be treated like other countries experiencing economic difficulty. Recent news reports illustrate how China underscores the ruling Communist Party's renewed determination to keep its fifty year monopoly on political power. Chen seemed to have confidence that the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) might be more insightful and perceptive in their criticisms for his own return to legitimacy as the last living of five "unrectified" rightists.
