ABSTRACT
The Yugoslavian women seemed to have good English skills and understood the presentation. A problem is that the immigrant women feel the management uses their lack of English against them. The old shop offered more flexibility in their schedules and the women had control over their work. The constant joking and teasing has carried over to the new location and the women work hard to keep it a pleasant place to work. The women possess a bawdy sense of humor and sexuality is typically a source of their laughter. Discussions between women are influenced by the range of nationalities that are represented at the factory. The women piece workers are at the bottom of the power structure in the factory, with several layers of management them. The system of pay scales at the factory is a complicated one, though the women quickly master its intricacies.
