ABSTRACT

Having completed the goal-setting stage and, if necessary, the resistance resolution stage, the counselor and client need to ensure implementation of the strategic career action plan and bring closure to the career counseling sessions. Plan implementation and closure are facilitated by applying the five steps of the follow-through stage: transfer responsibility to the client; monitor progress in the implementation of the strategic career action plan; acknowledge closure of the counseling relationship and the formal counseling program; evaluate the effectiveness of the career counseling; and design additional interventions, if necessary.
