ABSTRACT

The students used technologies in ways that put them in touch with each other and with themselves. Most adults cannot fully grasp what students understand even though adults have designed the tools they use for their explorations. Learning a language as a child is different from learning it as an adult. The metaphysical attitudes in adolescence are rooted in the physical situatedness of their interactions with the people, plants, animals, and places that surround them. They are turning points. Historical attitudes are not about the study of history, at least as it is traditionally taught in school, but about the search for understanding how things began. Ethical attitudes confront the eternal struggle between inner and outer selves. Governing and controlling the actions in relation to expectations and rules is a critical part of developing an ethical attitude. To a great extent, pedagogical attitudes overlap with ethical attitudes.
