ABSTRACT
The discussion on CBR and case-based design (CBD) has primarily focused on technology and most research has explored in-depth one particular aspect of the activity of design. Artificial intelligence can learn much from the complex human activity of design, but the question remains to which degree a formalized and computer-based method such as CBD is able to support design and how it will change the human design process and the design products. This chapter focuses on representation of design and building cases, on the relation between CBD and creativity, on legal aspects, and on the integration of CBD in future design systems.
