Clinical Assessment: Description

Prutting, Epstein, Beckman, Dias, and Gao (1989) made a cogent comment about clinical assessment. They said, "An assessment weIl done is a treatment half begun" (p. 12). This comment goes directIy to the heart 01 the notion of appropriateness because an assessment that has construct validity (Messick, 1980) as evidenced by continuity with the available cognitive socialization literature with its attendant theoretical perspectives and relevance to an individual's repertoire 01 skills is indeed an assessment weIl done and intervention half begun.
