ABSTRACT
In this final section of chapter 2, I indicate how each one of these sections, in its own way, contributes to our understanding of images of children and childhood that influence countless parents, educators, and clinical psychologists. After all, it is the professional child developmentalist who, by watching and tracking children’s growth and development, provides a scientific basis for the images he or she constructs and reveals to the professional and lay communities.
