ABSTRACT
The Ounce of Prevention Fund (IL) Developmental Training and Support Program (DTSP) provides training, support, and information to programs working to improve the developmental outcomes of teenage mothers and their children. When possible, fathers are included in program activities. For staff (most often home visitors) to be effective, they must develop a positive, supportive relationship with the family. The DTSP provides ongo ing training to home visitors, parent group facilitators, and supervisors for a 2-year period and has two primary goals: assisting staff in developing a supportive helping relationship with families so that they in turn may assist, and assisting teenage parents to develop positive relationships with their children.
