ABSTRACT

There are a number of interesting and important topics which have neither been discussed nor examined thoroughly enough in the preceeding sections. In particular, several problematic issues related to the inherent constraints or limitations of dual scaling have yet to be addressed. As you recall, the emphasis so far has been on the potential of dual scaling in elucidating information contained in data. From the user's point of view, however, it is equally important to pay attention to controversial issues and topics that require some caution. This chapter, therefore, is devoted mainly to such issues, and it is hoped that an awareness of them will enhance our understanding of this scaling method and its future development.
