ABSTRACT

The experiences of freedom and unfreedom address a variety of values and ensuing emotions that have escaped the attention of emotion theorists in the past. The social and political arenas engender emotions that are highly relevant to daily existence and concerns. In the process of asking for more attention to these states, I try to illustrate how varied and complex affective and emotional reac tions can be, going beyond the limited domains that the psychology of emotion has previously considered.
