ABSTRACT

Once an explainer has been reminded of an old explanation, through the use o f retrieval mechanisms such as those described in the previous two chapters, it is ready to apply that explanation to the anomaly that caused the reminding. However, the mere fact that a new situation reminds one of an old explanation does not guarantee that that explanation will make sense when applied to the new situation. We are often reminded o f things that turn out to be irrelevant, or only partially relevant.
