ABSTRACT
A neural network model describing stereotyped depressive behavior is presented. Based on animal and human research, the model suggests a mechanism for engendering depressive behavior that is tripartite: such behavior can be caused by cognitive deficits, state-dependent memory episodes, or affective process. The model belongs broadly to the Grossberg paradigm and follows a suggestive model in Leven (1987, 1988).
