ABSTRACT
The form of this debate is the most significant reason that so little has emerged from developmental psycholinguistics that has any proven relevance for treat ment of children with language disorders. Children who have problems in the area of language development need specific biological and environmental inter ventions relating to the processes involved in language acquisition. But specific interventions do not emerge from the rhetoric of nature vs. nurture. It is Anastasi’s “ how” question that must be answered if application is to be based on research and if basic theoretical issues are to be resolved empirically.
