ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book contains stories, told in the voices of women who have chosen to continue in relationships with cross-dressers and male-to-female transsexual persons. Some found out early in the relationship; others learned of this aspect of their husband's lives after having been together for many years. Frequently so much focus is placed upon the gender-variant person that the natal female partner has no opportunity to explore her own journey. She may feel partially or totally left out, and she may not feel respected. Given this societal bias, it should be no surprise that many transgendered people try their best to live what society might consider normal lives. To presenting annually at Southern Comfort Conference (SCC), have also presented at the SPICE conference, at the International Foundation for Gender Education conference (IFGE) and at the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association (HBIGDA) Symposium in Bologna.
