ABSTRACT
Sandy's initial hurt about Mandy having deceived her was accompanied by the feeling that a lot of their closeness must have been a lie. Sandy wondered how much more of what she believed that they as a couple had together was not real. Some partners go further, insisting that their entire relationship has been a lie and worth nothing. Sandy expresses a sentiment that they also heard from Melissa, that is, her sense at times that her purpose in life is supposed to be to support the gender-variant spouse, particularly in making the big decision. Whereas for some SOs, their partners going full-time is the most difficult part of transition, other wives of transsexuals mention that life is easier for them once that change is behind them. Sandy has the flexibility that is required to support a spouse every step of the way through the transition process, and to meet life on life's terms.
