ABSTRACT

Medicine is evolving at a rapidly increasing pace. Keeping current with accurate, up-to-date, evidence-based information has become complicated and time consuming. One study examined a group of internal medicine residents’ clinical encounters. 1 It found that two new questions arose for every three patients seen in clinical settings. However, residents pursued answers for only 29 percent of the new questions they encountered. Lack of time was listed as one of the reasons for these unanswered questions.
