Your Child Can Change: Teaching Your Child New Behavior
In Chapter 2, I reviewed some of the lessons I learned as a parent. One of the most significant was that character building needs to be learned at home. Parents have a unique opportunity to help their children feel good about themselves and develop positive self-concepts. Furthermore, the ADD child's behavioral tendencies often work against the very acceptance of their basic needs within the family system. This makes the work more challenging and more necessary. Building ADD children's solid sense of self allows them to accept their strengths and limitations and to eventually lead happy, productive, and responsible lives.
