Recently, a parent told me that although her son's grades had improved and he was less aggressive, he was still uncooperative and nasty. When asked to help take groceries out of the car, to shut the door, or to help in the smallest way, the boy would answer "No," or "You do it," or just run ahead. The parent was very upset because her son was completely unappreciative of all her efforts to care for and help him. We talked awhile and, as I questioned her further, we decided to work on helping this child learn to have a more respectful relationship with his mother.
