ABSTRACT
In 1991 the results of a major study on the role of volunteers in museums and heritage organizations was published (Millar, 1991). It provides a wide-ranging review of the field, with recommendations for action and examples of good practice. In this chapter I will examine aspects of the management of volunteers in museums.
