ABSTRACT
The adjective ‘archaeological’ is often used to describe material of early date, but for the purposes of conservation and storage the significant fact is that archaeological material has been buried or entombed at some time. In this sense the word ‘archaeological’ may be applied to a wide range of artefacts from all cultures and periods up to the quite recent past.
