ABSTRACT

Thoth is depicted as an ibis-headed man and he holds the sceptre and common to all gods. The greatest work of THOTH bringing back the missing eye of RA and restoring to its place in his face, SET swallowed the eye both of RA and his predecessor Horus, but he compelled to vomit it. THOTH was the mind, intelligence and reasoning power of self-created, self-subsistent god. He was the spirit and soul of the primeval ocean. The theology of THOTH of a highly spiritual character and his character and attributes described by the opening words of St. John's Gospel: 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same in the beginning with God. All things made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men'.
