ABSTRACT

Moon Lady had found a cheap room in the house of a woman who was a fellow-believer in Buddha in a village near Ting hai. In order not to waste this period of waiting, she sent Tai Arl out in the garb of a Taoist monk, with a wooden fish and a bottle-shaped alms gourd, to beg from door to door and see if he could glean some information as to the where about of his young master. Tai searching his master for three days and had wandered far from his starting point so they spent the night in a nearby hermitage which Liao Kung had already visited on a previous occasion, and early the next morning they hastened with winged footsteps along the road back to Moon Lady. Little Jewel reported that Moon Lady had sailed that same morning on the pilgrim ship for the island.
