LIFE STORIES: PIECES OF A DREAM
T H E S O N G S o f mermaids are not like other songs. Mermaids' voices sing beyond the human range-notes not heard, forms not tolerated, and each to each, not one to many, one above all. If we imagine the mermaids, we might almost hear them singing. Their voices blending, so that each, in its own special timbre, lends to the harmony o f the whole. So it might be as one writes-a voice in a choir at the threshold o f sensibility. M y voice shall be only one o f many to be heard.
