ABSTRACT

Parras, a little oasis just outside of Saltillo, Mexico, oasis because that whole area there, Monterrey and Saltillo, it's all a dry prairielike area, but Parras is a very rich little oasis. They grew grapes, and some of the top wineries came out of Parras. My folks came over when they were very young, my father was twelve, and my mother was fifteen. She's from another area, outside of San Luis Potosi-it's a little village that was kind of a holdout during the Revolution; they didn't get involved in the fighting.
