ABSTRACT

In this chapter we want to look particularly at developing action strategies and putting them into practice. As we have made clear in earlier chapters, in action research the knowledge generated about practice is used to improve your practice. Transforming the knowledge and insights developed through action research into practical action is also a way of testing the theories you have developed. It enables us to ask the question, “Does my practical theory about this situation stand the test of being put into practice or do I have to develop, modify or change it?” In practical terms, action researchers ask the following questions at this stage:

• How can I develop action strategies that fit my practical theories and that are likely to improve the situation?
