ABSTRACT

The iconic images migrated as well) sometimes in concen with rhe rhetorical narrarives and often under rheir own impetus. The family of iconic images traveled to w'-tll, to manuscript, to glass bowl, to plate, to window, and they did so in diverse orders of migration. These images re-emerged in early medieval church decorations c-I.nd in miniaLures; some Limes Lhose in charge of a monumenL's construction would employ the texts of a later recension of the 'acts' of '-til apostle or of ,-t liturgical text derived from an 'acts' and, at rhe same time, use anorher church decoration) an ivory) an icon or a model book from an atelier as a model for the images themselves [see Figure 4.3.3].
