ABSTRACT
Acts 4:24–30 is a public prayer at a community gathering. 1 The reader can imagine either a memorized prayer chanted in unison, or individual voices praying aloud in succession. 2 The prayer has an explicit biblical character and represents the voice of Jewish Christians in Jerusalem. It is proposed to Luke's largely gentile readership as a model of the heroism of the founding community in Jerusalem.
