ABSTRACT

One of the key moves in James Hillman’s re-visioning of psychology is to liberate it from its medicine complex. This allows him to honor pathology and depart from salvational fantasies of psychotherapy altogether. This, in turn, leads psychological analysis, whether of an individual life or of culture or ideas, into an unredeemable and inexhaustible depth. Whatever is analyzed becomes more soulful through the exploration of its unending, mysterious images.
