ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION This unit focuses on the aims of primary education. It encourages readers to reflect upon aims that are inherent within different philosophies of education, as well as to consider their own views of the aims of primary education. It takes readers from the conception of the English National Curriculum towards the proposals for the near future, examining the aims stated in each policy document.
