ABSTRACT

Monkey-mind is a state of mind where people thoughts loop over and over again and prohibit the empty space needed for mystery to occur. Barbaras art calls forth oracular movements, images, and sound leading into the trauma of erasure and separation and returns to aesthetic moments of interconnectivity. Through deeply attending to each others art, and reflecting upon shared experiences, people listen to the cracks of wisdom held within the art and engage a collaborative dance of visioning and listening, calling and responding. Celestes dance and poetry responds to the visceral ways of connecting to the inner landscape of self and the outer landscape of the natural world. The conversation has become a further inquiry in and of itself, as the author reminded and rebodied to what is most important in both the collaboration and the pursuit of connecting contemplative and artmaking practices.
