Programs Designed to Teach SAE to AAE-Speaking Students

It is widely agreed that in order to maximize their success, students in the U.S. would benefit from learning how to function in the country’s common culture so that as adults they have more choices about how to participate in American culture. At this time this means in part that culturally and linguistically diverse populations will be most successful educationally, economically, and professionally if they are bi-dialectal, using the mainstream academic English of the country’s schools and institutions of higher learning, the work place, and society at large.
