Summary and Thoughts about Future Directions

In this chapter, I reiterate the major points I have made in this book, and make a final plea for continuing and extending our systematic curricular work in the area of dialectal code-switching for AAE-speaking students, a promising pedagogical approach to impacting the Black-White Achievement Gap. As AAE-SAE code-switching curricula are proven successful, I believe that they will offer a model for working with other dialect communities around the U.S., and, thus, the implications can have immediate as well as yet unknown long-term benefits.
