ABSTRACT
Pacifists who object to all wars are what one might call “general conscientious objectors.” People who have no objection to participating in war in general but who refuse to fight in a specific war on the grounds that it is unjust are “selective conscientious objectors.” This chapter examines whether the actions of the latter are compatible with professional military ethics.
