ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how arts education, and in particular dance education, can meet the demands of the scholars and organisations while dealing with the challenges of setting standards that do not allow for individuality, creativity, imagination and curiosity. The use of digital technology in arts education and in particular dance education opens up new perspectives for arts education and requests new roles for educators in the twenty-first century. Students should be introduced to digital technology, including digital music and sound design, video editing and camera techniques, Dance Forms, motion capture technology and dance production technology, as well as the use of information and communication technologies. They can experiment with technology to find how they might enhance their work or create for the digital world. The goals of education for the twenty-first century and the focus of an embodied understanding of dance using technology to enhance learning are the aims of a good dance curriculum.
