Non-contact Violence

On the set of a short film two hockey players were about to throw down and have a fist figh

against the boards. I had rehearsed the fight with both actors a week before. They were both

professional actors, able-bodied, and very good skaters. During one take, one actor threw an

uppercut to the other actor, sending the second actor sprawling onto the ice. At that moment

the crew let out a gasp. Suddenly the director called, “Cut!” after which she immediately

called to the actor on the ice “Are you all right?” The actor got up without a problem and

said, “Yeah, why?”
