ABSTRACT

Many of those who use other statistical methods for analysis in the social sciences tend to criticize the Rasch measurement approach for being simplistic. How could any human abilities seriously be regarded as unidimensional? Surely, even in the simplest forms of testing (e.g., color-in-the-bubble multiple-choice testing) shouldn’t we make some allowance for guessing, lack of concentration, and the like?
