ABSTRACT
In 1955 Todd Storz and Bill Stewart started the first Top 40 selection KOWH-AM in Omaha, Nebraska (Keith 1987). This was the beginning of a format that would systematise the capacity of music radio stations to become the main gatekeepers for phonographic products, Contemporary Hit Radio.
