ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that teamwork opportunities for classroom teachers in important ways. It discusses the teamwork they can model and teach teamwork in their P–12 classes to increase achievement in their students, their schools, and themselves. The chapter explores teamwork opportunities for teachers to model and teach team participation and team leadership to their P–12 students and to teacher candidates. It focuses on leadership of teams; teachers develop professionalism among colleagues and community members. Classroom teachers are required to fulfill a range of roles and responsibilities associated with being both followers and leaders; they are expected to serve as well-rounded faculty members and as well-honed educational coaches. Teacher educators provide the pivotal point for transforming TEAM-work. Trust among team players is the hallmark of effective teamwork. Efficacy defined success in teaching teamwork. Sustainability of teaching teamwork involves mentorship.
