ABSTRACT

Samsung Electronics Co. (SEC), the leading business division of Samsung Group, is known for its mobile and smart phones, television sets and laptops. SEC developed Six Sigma internally by exploring the company’s internal resources, especially people. Product innovation and designing became the first priority during the development process. The major objective for launching Six Sigma was to improve processes internally and externally, where customer needs and interactions have become increasingly critical. With its strategic objectives established, the foundation was ready for the Six Sigma process to begin in late 1999 and early 2000 with training for SEC’s employees (Yun and Chua 2002 : 13).
