ABSTRACT

The cheapest and most readily available method of camera support is the human body. "Going handheld" means using hands, arms, and shoulder for holding and moving the camera. Large camcorders and 16mm film cameras, common before the advent of small HD digital video cameras, had the advantage of being heavier and long enough to mount on shoulder. Tripods are a three-legged support designed to both hold the camera steady for precise subject framing and to allow for fluid pans, tilts, and compound moves. The tripod head is where the camera is mounted and is the component that swivels left and right for panning, and up and down for tilting. One of the more recent trends in camera support options is the use of drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs), which are becoming increasingly popular for aerial shots.
