ABSTRACT

Religion is warm; science is cold. We get this impression, above all, from their respective treatments of love and, by extension, altruism. Simplifying, we could say that theology promotes preformatism, the view that love is somehow preformed within the very fabric of the universe, for example, in a loving prime mover, a God or disembodied higher power spirit that emanates love. By this reckoning, love is preeminent, the driving force behind everything, the force to align yourself with.
