ABSTRACT

This chapter begins our review of the last step in the data collection process, the means by which an investigator obtains the data of interest from or about a subject/respondent. The principal means discussed in this chapter include interviews, questionnaires and unobtrusive observations. The following chapter concludes this discussion, focusing upon the use of secondary documents and records and mixed methods. With each means of obtaining data we will review the best practices recommendations that can be inferred from recent research.
