ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the analysis of enterprise-level Human Resource Development (HRD) practices. Studies of HRD practices in 2000-2008 suggest that the major emphasis in most firms was on training of managers and employees, not as much on other aspects of HRD. Changes in HRD strategies and approaches during the economic crisis of 2008-2009 were determined, to a significant extent, by the fact that personnel-related expenditures had been growing very fast during the pre-crisis years. The chapter discusses features of HRD programs in advanced group of early adopters. A study conducted by the research center Amplua Insights in December 2011 identified leading trends in T&D in Russian firms. The chapter shows how the HRD practices have changed compared to the previous period of time. It then focuses on the following indicators: demand for various services in the field of human resource training and development; specific approaches to in-company training programs; and approaches to evaluating training efficiency.
