ABSTRACT
This and the following chapter include some examples of content and teaching ideas for geography in the primary school. Of course, the potential field of geographical education is vast and the precise choice of content will depend on individual teachers, their enthusiasms and expertise. This chapter focusses on the locality as a teaching resource; the chapter which follows looks at approaches to teaching about more distant places. The organisation of this content within the overall geography curriculum is dealt with in Chapter 7.
